Boise Cascade Selected to Transport 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

Boise

Kamiah, ID (October 2026) — Boise Cascade has been selected to transport the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. The tree will be harvested from Idaho’s Lochsa-Powell District of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and make its way to Washington, D.C., with celebratory stops in communities along the route.

As part of the more than 50-year-old holiday tradition known as the “People’s Tree,” the tree will embark on a nearly 3,000-mile journey to the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, making stops at local celebrations and community events along the route to share the spirit of the season.

Boise Cascade was selected at the recommendation of Kenworth Truck Company, a long-standing sponsor of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree initiative. The selection reflects Boise Cascade’s transportation expertise, strong safety record, and Idaho roots, the state from which the 2026 tree will be harvested.

“At Boise Cascade, we haul wood products every day, but transporting the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree is a very special delivery,” said Jeff Strom, CEO of Boise Cascade. “This tree will carry the spirit of Idaho nearly 3,000 miles to Washington, D.C., bringing communities together along the way. I’m especially proud of our drivers, who are taking on this incredible responsibility with the skill, professionalism, and dedication they bring to their work every day. They’ll be representing Boise Cascade at every stop along the way, and I know they’ll make us proud! We’re honored to be part of this beloved tradition and excited to help bring the People’s Tree safely to our nation’s capital while spreading plenty of holiday cheer along the way.”

The 2026 drivers from Boise Cascade are Monte Cook from Spokane, Washington; Phillip Cramer from Billings, Montana; Fred Holmes from Spokane, Washington; and Tianne Larrimer from Houston, Texas. Together, they have more than 100 years of driving experience. Each of them brings an enthusiasm for driving and a reputation for professionalism and service. The drivers will proudly lead the People’s Tree journey across the country, sharing the spirit of the holidays with communities from Idaho to Washington, D.C.

Boise Cascade will transport the tree with support from several partners. Kenworth Truck Company will provide a full body wrap on the Kenworth T680 equipped with a 76-inch sleeper to haul the tree, outfitted with the latest PACCAR powertrain, driver-assistance systems and driver amenities. Alaska Airlines will help transport thousands of handmade ornaments created by Idahoans for the tree.

In addition to Boise Cascade, Kenworth Truck Company, and presenting sponsor Idaho Forest Group, partners supporting the 2026 journey include Arrow Tool Group, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, J.J. Keller & Associates, Inc., Project Learning Tree, GS-JJ, Tyler Technologies, and many more.
