Idaho Forest Group is the Presenting Sponsor for the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree

Sponsorship supports “The People’s Tree” journey from Idaho to Washington, D.C.

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, May 27, 2026 — The Society of American Foresters is excited to announce Idaho Forest Group as presenting sponsor of the 2026 U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree. Support from sponsors and partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service and the Society of American Foresters makes the tree’s journey possible. Their collaboration helps deliver the tree from its home in Idaho to its final destination on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol. Along the way, the tree will take center stage at engaging whistlestop events and will provide a celebratory platform to share Idaho’s long legacy of forest stewardship, agriculture, and awe-inspiring natural resources.

“We’re proud to be the presenting sponsor of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree to help bring ‘The People’s Tree’ from Idaho to Washington, D.C. It’s a great opportunity to share why forest stewardship is so important and how our forests impact our environment, economies, and communities. We look forward to helping showcase Idaho on a national stage,” said Idaho Forest Group CEO, Todd Brinkmeyer.

The tree will be harvested from Idaho’s Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests near the end of October and will be showcased at multiple whistlestop events through its late November arrival at the U.S. Capitol. From there, the Architect of the Capitol and their team will erect the tree and decorate it with handmade ornaments created by Idaho residents.

The tree’s official route and whistlestop event locations will be shared in early fall. At these stops, community members will be able to see the tree in person, sign a banner on the truck, participate in various activities, purchase food and merchandise, and learn about Idaho’s responsible forestry practices that enable us to share our majestic trees with the world. Attendance at the whistlestop events is free to the public, thanks to our sponsors.
