Partner spotlight: Bartlett Tree Experts lend expertise to Tree selection, harvest
Bartlett Tree Experts is excited to be a part of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Project this year. For the past eight months, Bartlett arborists have played an important role in assessing and selecting potential tree candidates. Bartlett ISA Certified Arborist John Wayne Hardison says, “Initially when the Forest Service reached out to me last winter to discuss our help with harvesting and crane work with the tree, I was happy to be involved. Our role has evolved and grown over the past few months, and I’m even more excited to be helping in a scientific and consultative role for this project. Bartlett has been the leader in scientific tree care for over a century. Our arboricultural knowledge and research lab resources are a perfect fit for contributing to this enjoyable and exciting project.”
In addition to tree health and appearance, tree structure and branch habits are essential in picking the right tree. Like the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree, homeowners should consider meeting with an ISA Certified Arborist to assess their trees for health and safety. The holiday season is the perfect time to evaluate many tree-branching structures for defects and safety issues. According to Hardison, winter is often one of the busiest times in Western NC for caring for clients’ trees, as it’s when they do a lot of pruning and preventive care. With most leaves off the trees, trained arborists can quickly identify pruning and cabling needs in a tree’s canopy.
“We’re excited to contribute to this project and think it’s an excellent opportunity to showcase some of our knowledge and scientific capabilities.”
Thank you to Bartlett Tree Experts for supporting Ruby and the Forest Service team this year.
